A Georgia man has been arrested and charged on multiple counts following a two-county chase. The man sped away from a checkpoint The chase ended in a auto accident in which a pregnant woman was injured. The man made a u-turn to avoid a checkpoint in Buford close to Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Gwinnett County. He had a close call with another car, then sped away. He led police on a pursuit that spanned several miles and two counties before it ended in Hall County.
According to police, the man made u-turns, ran red lights and drove on the wrong side of the road. At one point, an officer attempted a PIT maneuver. The officer crashed his patrol car when the man allegedly hit him. The police officer sustained minor injuries. The chase ended when the man struck a van with six passengers inside. One of the passengers, a pregnant woman, was transported to the hospital to be treated for her injuries. The woman’s condition is unknown. The man was arrested and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail. He has been charged with multiple offenses.
