A widow is suing an Atlanta medical center and a driver hired by the center for wrongful death after her husband was killed. In one of the most horrific car accidents imaginable, the suit claims that the driver ran over the woman’s husband and caused his head to “explode” then drove over him several more times, afterwards denying that he hit the man.
The suit claims that the driver let the patient out of the van then drove away recklessly, leaving the van door open. He then drove the van into a parked car, backed over the patient and ran over his head and neck. The victim most likely died instantly, but the driver failed to call 911 or render any aid. He allegedly drove back and forth over the victim’s body several times before leaving the scene.
When questioned by police, the driver denied that he was responsible for the accident. The widow, along with her son, are seeking not only compensation for wrongful death but punitive damages as well. The accident follows another incident in which a driver for a different medical company hit a second company vehicle carrying a passenger then drove away. The passenger claimed she was instructed not to tell anyone about the incident and was detained in the van for several hours.
Victims who have been injured by drivers working for a company, or the family members that survive these victims, may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit. A personal injury attorney may be able to assist those who have a claim against a driver in filing a lawsuit to recover monetary damages for pain, suffering and physical injury.
