A woman driving a blue Lincoln collided with a gray Suzuki on the evening of May 11 as she was exiting the Mesa County Fairgrounds in Denver onto U.S. Highway 50. No other vehicles were involved. The driver of the Lincoln was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-serious injuries. The driver of the Suzuki was admitted to Saint Mary’s Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. It was not stated whether there were any passengers in either vehicle.
The identities of the drivers were not released. The driver of the Lincoln was cited in connection with the car accident. Following the accident, traffic was heavy in the area around the fairgrounds as emergency responders attended to the scene.
Drivers who are exiting a parking lot and entering the flow of traffic have an obligation to wait until they can do so safely. Any person who is turning into traffic must yield to other drivers that have the right of way. A person who fails to comply with these basic safety regulations may be found to be liable if an accident should result. If a driver pays a ticket, the fact of the citation may be used as evidence of negligence in a civil suit against the driver.
A personal injury attorney can often help victims who are injured in car accidents to obtain compensation for their property damage, medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. It may be possible to interview witnesses and secure evidence to determine liability, which can help injured drivers be made whole. When insurance companies are not willing to admit liability or pay a fair amount, an attorney can often assist by filing suit.
